The Lowdown on Printer Security

Boost your network security to prevent opportunistic or targeted threats.

Protecting sensitive electronic information is of greater concern than ever before. With the proliferation of connected multi-functional office products, we realize that protecting electronic documents processed is an absolute requirement in the 21st century workplace.

Printers and MFPs must have safeguards in place to protect you and your network from outside threats. Our manufacturering partners provide our customers with the latest in data security to serve as peace of mind that your information is protected.

We have the the tools to assist in creating a package that helps our customers confidently use their device without risk from physical attacks, cyber-attacks or MFP-based breaches of any confidential or Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

HP Printers

HP Enterprise and HP Pro Printers offer powerful security for any office, with features that can detect and stop an attack automatically. HP offers three key technologies together designed to thwart attackers’ efforts and self-heal. These features automatically trigger a reboot in the event of an attack or anomaly.

  • HP Sure Start validates the integrity of the BIOS code. If the BIOS is compromised, HP Sure Start defaults to a safe, “golden copy” of the BIOS.

  • Whitelisting helps ensure only authentic, known-good HP code—digitally signed by HP—that has not been tampered with is loaded into memory. If an anomaly is detected, the device reboots.

  • Run-time intrusion detection detects anomalies during complex firmware and memory operations. If an attack occurs, it shuts down the device and reboots.

  • HP JetAdvantage Security Manager completes the check cycle by checking and fixing any affected device security setting

Did you know?!? Most HP Printers do not have internal hard drives (including HP Officejet and Deskjet Printers); however, some HP Laserjet Printer models do have internal hard drives and Systel has solutions to protect and manage your security settings, as well as your sensitive data and memory. We highly recommend enabling these features and functions in order to properly protect sensitive data.
